John "Rocky" Lane was born on May 12, 1938 in Raleigh, NC to the late Graham Land and Alice (James) Lane. He was educated in the Paterson School System and graduating thru the US Army while attending Eastside High School. He ran track along with Carnie P. Bragg. John was also know as the Grandfather of East 37th Street. John was educated into the Military June 1958 serving through June 1960. He was a Private First Class E-3. He was a former employee of Food Fair & Food Town of Paterson and then Shop Rite of Passaic for twenty-five years until his health began to fail; then he retired. John was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian, Morgan, Georgia Dunn and Betty Woods and five additional brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving devoted wife and friend of forty-eight years, Juanita (Wright) Lane; his one daughter, Tracey Davis Lane; two grandsons, Derek (DJ) Webster II and Taj A. Webster all of Paterson, NJ; three sisters, Grace Wyche of Charlotte, NC, Ruth Mack and Annie Mae Lowery of Paterson, NJ; godson, Hah-neef Mack of West Orange, NJ; a special niece, Ruth (Toodie) Caster; special nephew, Stephen Lowery of Paterson, NJ; sister-in-law, Katie (David) Oliver of West Orange, NJ, Ella Washington of Paterson, NJ and Patricia Whitehead of Poconos, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
