I was blessed to meet John in late 2010 when he began to inquire about our non-profit and what we did for the children of Las Vegas. He was a very involved donor and came to a number of our programs before deciding to support our efforts. In fact, the photo shown on his tribute is from a visit to Lincoln Elementary school when John was first introduced to our mission. In January of 2012, John provided the funding for 700 children attending Detwiler Elementary to receive 15 books each to begin a home library. These are children that come from low-income families and, in many cases, don't own even one book of their very own. John continued to support Detwiler in 2013 as well.

The lives he helped change through this generous giving will never really be known. But rest assured, he was a man who cared deeply about others and about making a difference in children's lives. In honor of his passing, we will be dedicating a book at everyone of our 28 schools that we serve. John's name and memory will be carried on through the magic of books and the opportunities that literacy brings for all.

It was an honor to work with John for this short period of time and I'm so very glad I had the opportunity to know him.

He valued ongoing communication about how his generous gifts were used and were touching people's lives. Most of all, he valued people.

Thoughtful, strategic giving brought so much joy to John, and it was my deepest honor to be a small part of the journey with him.

Over the years I've helped him with many computer issues and projects, Helping digitize and annotate all of his photos, setting the Godshaw Clan group email list, creating the memorial website for Keith. I first met John in 2004 when he needed some help getting the most of of his and Carol's Macintosh computers. But along the way John stopped being a client and became a friend. I enjoyed him as a person. My wife and I shared dinner with John and Carol several times. After my father passed away, I looked to John as a person I could seek advice from. He was always ready to offer advice and a tough word if it was needed. Even giving me advise on salary negotiations with Steve Jobs.

Once John asked me to give a technology talk to the 5th grades at Ronzone Elementary school, not being the kind of person that would seek out such a thing, I was hesitant to do it, I offered a lame excuse, but John said, "you'll be fine and you'll have more fun than the kids" He was right. Later he sent me an article about the program at Ronzone that mention the computer guy being the best one, with a note that said "I told you they would have fun." Needless to say the next year I did 2 of the talks. We also help to donate and setup an old Macintosh to one of the student from Booker, that would make great use of it.

I moved to Silicon Valley in 2008, but kept in touch with him while I was there. After my employment changed and we move back to Las Vegas, I enjoyed seeing John and helping him with his iPhone, iPad and Mac. I also visited him several times in the hospital and extended care facility before he moved to La Jolla. John was a take charge kind of person and didn't mind telling his doctors if he felt he wasn't get the treatment he needed. While he was in extended care he

I will miss John greatly! He was my elyddest cousin. We had many talks when he was well and in his ups and downs with his health and family health issues. My husband and 3 children are forever greatful for letting us invade his homes in Silverthorn and Vegas. He truly was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. I feel honored that I was born a member of his family

It was a pleasure to know and to work with John and Carol during their time in Summit County. John was a great friend and we kept in touch through Las Vegas and San Diego.

John and I served on the Plato board for many years. I was always impressed by his common sense and ability to work with everyone on the board. We kept in touch after I left the board. John and I exchanged many different alternative health ideas over the years. One year my wife and I were able to visit Carol and John In Vegas.

it was an honour to have john as a part of our group. he reminded us that life is a gift, to cherish every moment, to never stop following your dreams and listen to your deepest desires in order to fulfill your life's purpose. his spirit is strong, loving, adventurous, bright and unique. rest in the deepest peace and embrace the space in which you will forever be alive in.

John was a wonderful mentor. He was a kind man and an awesome business man. His spirit will be truly missed.
