Dr. JOHN GEORGE NATSIS, DDS ~~ Former EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and PRESIDENT of OAKLAND COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY; MEMBER of PIERRE FAUCHARD ACADEMY-DENTAL ASSOCIATION Dr. Natsis, age 84, died on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born on January 7, 1927 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to George John and Martha Natsis. He was a resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and had grown up in Detroit. Dr. Natsis was a graduate of Cass Tech High School, and subsequently a graduate of Wayne State University Dental School in 1957. He was a practicing Periodontist in Birmingham, Michigan for over 40 years. Dr. Natsis was one of the first 5 periondists in Michigan. He also was a clinical instructor at the University of Detroit School of Dentistry for 37 years. In addition to his involvement with Oakland County Dental Society and Pierre Fauchard Academy (ref. above), Dr. Natsis was active in many other dental societies and associations, among them being Michigan Periodontal Association - life member, American College of Dentists - life member, and Trustee of the Michigan Dental Association. He was also a member of the American College of Fellows, Michigan Periodontal Association, and American Dental Society of Europe. He was one of the founding members of the dental hygiene school at Oakland Community College (OCC). His family was his Number One priority. He also loved to golf - his favorite place to play was Palm Springs, CA, and he was a member of Western Golf & Country Club in Redford, Michigan. Dr. Natsis was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WW II - March 2, 1945 - Dec. 12, 1946, honorably discharged as Sergeant. He was a Surgical Technician in Manila, Philippines. He earned an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, a Philippine Independence Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. Deceased Wife of 53 years: Sophie (nee: Sabos) Natsis. They met and had been friends since they were 5 years old. Surviving Children: Marthy, Stathy Madias (George), and George (Julie) Special Granddaddy of Macey and Alexander Madias Visitation: Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 2-8 PM at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084 (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads), with an evening Trisagion Service at 6 PM Funeral Service: Monday, April 18, 2011 - 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 W. Wattles, Troy, with Reverend Stratton Dorozenski officiating.
