GRAFTON: John P. Pocius, 90, passed away peacefully September 12, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rita (Grigas), his son John W. Pocius and his wife Diane, daughter Nancy E. Goodspeed and her husband Stephen, grandchildren Adam Goodspeed, Sarah Glispin, Tara Pocius, Katherine Dauphinais and great-granddaughter Lyla Dauphinais along with his sister Anne Marlborough and niece Carol Canova and nephew Robert Marlborough. John was born December 25, 1920 in Worcester, son of the late Ursula (Draugelis) and John Pocius. He grew up in Worcester and attended school there before joining and proudly serving in the US Air Force during World War II. He was a Dye Maker for many years at Johnston Steel & Wire Company in Worcester and was also a Special Police Officer. He and his wife Rita raised their family in Grafton residing there for more than 50 years. John coached Little League baseball, loved his garden and enjoyed following the Red Sox and Celtics. He loved to take trips to Foxwoods Casino with his wife Rita and they also spent many winters together in Florida. He was a long time parishioner of St. Casimirs Church in Worcester and St. Marys Church in Grafton. John also was a member of the Southern Mass. Police Association and was on the Board of Directors of the Lithuanian Naturalization and Social Club. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations to The Grafton Food Bank 30 Providence Road Grafton MA 01519 or St. Marys Church 17 Waterville St. N. Grafton MA 01536. CALLING HOURS & FUNERAL MASS All are invited to calling hours for John on Saturday September 17th from 9 to 10:30am at RONEY FUNERAL HOME 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton MA 01536 followed by the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Marys Church in North Grafton. He will then be laid to rest with Military Honors at Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton.
