John Paul Brendus, age 48, of North Canton, OH passed away suddenly of natural causes on June 24, 2012 while working in Chantilly, VA. He was born June 15, 1964 in Canton, OH and was a 1982 graduate of Glen Oak HS where he was involved in many activities such as A Capella choir & musical productions, athletics (earning a letterman award in Soccer) and was considered "Friendliest" in his graduating class. John proudly served his country as a specialist in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1983-1991. John completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Arts with a major in Geography and a minor in Cartography with a certification in Climatology from Kent State University in December 1995. John loved his work as a GIS Analyst where he thrived in his field. John began his career with Rolling & Hocevar, moving onto Technigraphics/CACI and most recently was led to Virginia to pursue his career with SAIC. John was proud and excited to be working there, becoming involved in judging local projects, Toastmasters and mapping projects with the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Chapter. John and his wife, Wendi, were in the process of relocating the family to the area. Married for 22 years to Wendi, John was a wonderful husband and best friend who was incredibly dedicated to his family. An amazing father to his daughters Julia, 19 and Mary, 12, John was always present and involved in every aspect of their lives. John was a "dance dad", a softball coach, volleyball line judge, active in school PTO functions and musical productions and last year served as treasurer for the North Canton East Youth Football Association in support of his cheerleader daughter, Mary. John was also present courtside proudly watching Julia perform with the OSU Dance team at basketball games in Columbus this past fall. Loving son of John and Donna Brendus, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially recalling fond memories of growing up, including family vacations, school and sporting events and particularly attending WVU football games. John was an extremely active member of the North Canton Jaycees, chairing several projects over the years, including the North Canton Fair. John held several offices, serving as president in 2002. John was the distinguished service award recipient of the chapter's Outstanding Young Man award and was voted in as a lifetime member in 2005. Preceeded in death by his sister, Dawn Kristine Brendus, John is survived by his wife, Wendi (Byous) and daughters Julia and Mary, parents John and Donna Brendus, aunt Donna Anderson along with many loving cousins, family members and loved ones. John was a friend to all who met him and could always be seen smiling or telling a funny story. John's friendships were extremely important to him, with many friendships remaining since grade school. John was a happy, joyous, loving son, husband, father, colleague, neighbor and friend who is gone too soon and will be dearly missed by all. Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Reed Funeral Home, North Canton (801 Pittsburg Ave. NW).
