John R. Finchum Sr. , 82, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, November 12, 2011 in Fort Wayne. Born in Martinsville, IN, John worked as a School Photographer with Interstate Studio for 40 years and Manheim Auto Auction for 11 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church .
John enjoyed bowling and fishing and always cared about others more than himself. He was a loving and kind husband ,father and grandfather. John will be remember for his quick wit and always ready to share a joke and a laugh.
Surviving are his son, John R Finchum Jr. of Plant City, FLdaughter, Carmalita Shafer and Marty DePrimio of Ft. Wayne, INgranddaughter, Michelle Koehlinger of Clearwater, FLgrandson, Aaron Washmuth of Ft. Wayne, IN grandson, Ian Finchum of Jacksonville, FL granddaughter, Amanda Shafer of Ft. Wayne, IN great-grandchildren, Anyla Shafer and Corbin Finchum. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert David and Atha Cleo Finchum, loving wife of 61 years, Nancy L. Finchum.
Service is 10:00 am, November 16, 2011 at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with calling one hour prior, Pastor Steve Ensley officiating. Calling also Tuesday, November 15, 2011 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm.at the funeral home with a McMillen Park Lions Club service at 7:30 pm Tuesday .
