JOHN E. RIETER, JR., age 64, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009, from complications of pancreatic cancer. Loving husband of Kathleen (nee Donnellan) for seven years, and the late Janet (nee Dobish). Father of Catherine Goertzen (Glynn), John III (Sharon), and the late infant daughter Hileah Rieter. Proud and thankful grandfather of Andrew and Ian Goertzen and Taylor and Madeline Rieter. Dear brother of Howard (Elaine), Birdella Gaba (Rudy), James (Kathryn), Linda Arida (Paul) and Thomas (Melanie). Brother-in-law of Eugene Dobish, Patricia Lindak (Gerald); James Donnellan and Margaret Aquila. Uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many. Half-century best friend with John Olbrys. Devoted to his feline companions, Patches and Max. An avid reader and contributor to Plain Dealer Letters to Editor. John was a student of the world and its inhabitants. Graduate of Lincoln High School and Cleveland State University. Retired UAW-Ford employee. He agreed with John Adams that the best life is doing good and being fair. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to Cleveland Scholarship Programs, The Malone Fund, 200 Public Square #3820, Cleveland, OH 44114. Family and friends invited to share memories at the funeral home, Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at West Park Cemetery, Cleveland. Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 7501 RIDGE ROAD, PARMA FROM 2-4 AND 7-9 PM FRIDAY.
