John Rupert Slade October 1, 1933 October 14, 2011 John Rupert Slade of Woodway passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Catherines Center. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. John was born October 1, 1933 in Waco, Texas to Don and Aline Slade. On June 20, 1959, he married his wife, Norine. He was President and owner of Slade Sign Co., Inc. which was established in 1929. John has been a lifelong Baptist and was Pastor at Midway Baptist Church in Hewitt until his retirement and then was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson. John enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Slade, mother Aline Walker Slade and brothers Don Slade, Jr. and George Slade. He is survived by his wife Norine Slade of Woodway; son John William (Bill) Slade, and wife Jaime of Katy, TX and grandchildren Houston William Slade and John Walker Slade. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Kopp, D. D. Baxley, James Loudermilk, Dan Wash, Gordon Riley and Jim Daniels. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
