THOMAS & WALTER QUINN FUNERAL HOME
John T. Baker, Sr., 74, of West View Street passed away January 2, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was the husband of Doreen J. (Hill) Baker. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Charles and Effie (Birrell) Baker. John was a batchmaker at Ciba/Geigy Corp. for 15 years. He also worked in the Warwick School Department as a custodian for 13 years before retiring in 1999. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Wm. Shields American Legion Post #43 and a member of the Korean War Veterans of RI #66. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, John T. Baker, Jr. of Warwick, two stepdaughters, Dawn Willis and Dorlinda Hopper, both of CA; a sister, Helen Richards of FL; two brothers, Charles and William Baker, both of Pawtucket. He was the brother of the late Ethel, David and Effie Baker.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
