John W. Thonen, 88, of Kansas City North passed away Fri., March 19, 2010. Memorial Visitation will be Wed., March 24; 1-2 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N.E. Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Mo. Memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at White Chapel.
John is preceded in death by a son, John Thonen, Jr.; sister, Ruth Lynn; and brother, Ralph Thonen. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Geraldine; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Mike Thomas; daughter-in-law, Candy Thonen; grandsons, Travis, Zachary and girlfriend, Katie; granddaughter, Cassie; great-grandsons, Jareth and Carson Thonen; and special friend, Mandy, all of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Evelyn Seawright of Calif. and Mary Lou Enochs of Ohio.
John was a disabled Naval Vet of WWII and retired from Dolgins in NKC after a long career in retail management. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to City Union Mission. (Arr. Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home 816-452-8419)
