John V. Stelter, 77, of Stevensville, passed away, Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Eternal Memorial Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville with Rev. Philip Quardokus officiating. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Those wishing to sign John's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

John was born October 23, 1934 in Maywood, Illinois to Edward & Gertrude (Hilger) Stelter. On January 18, 1958, he married the former Judith Stadt in Chicago, Illinois. John was employed at Leco Corp. in St. Joseph, retiring in 2000 after 26 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and an avid Chicago Bears & White Sox fan. In his spare time, John enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, and watching the Bears & White Sox.

John is survived by his wife Judith; three daughters-Joyce (Steven) Lewis of Crawfordsville, IN, Jill (Thomas) Milligan of Stevensville, Julie Stelter of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren-Shannon, Melanie, Stephanie, Zachary & Nicole; his brother James (Shirley) Stelter of Miami, FL; numerous nieces & nephews; and a dear family friend Dee Flaherty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth McGory in 2009 and his brother Robert Stelter in 2010.
