John W. Jordan, 63, passed away after a sudden illness on May 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn J. (Bridgett), son Alex K. Jordan, brothers Robert Jordan, Richard Jordan and his wife Terri and Stephen Jordan and his wife Jane, his beloved Aunt Joyce Sztuba and his nieces and nephews, Scott, Nicole, Neil, Gretchen, Timothy and Jesse Jordan. John was born July 30, 1947, son of the late Mary (Hall) and John Jordan. He grew up in Grafton, attended UMass where he graduated in 1970 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering where he also met his wife Carolyn. John had a distinguished career as an engineer, working for Rexnord, Inc., then at Simonds in Fitchburg for 16 years where he was Plant Manager for several years. He retired in 2007 from Lund Knife. Always an innovator John was known for influencing the companies he worked for in ways that helped keep them competitive. While retirement came earlier for John than expected, the past several years at home yielded the gift of time with his wife and son that created wonderful, lasting memories. Outside of work John was a passionate, life-long music lover. He was a recording engineer, running a studio from his Upton home called “Basement Tapes”. Several LP records resulted from his efforts, including the historic “Wormtown 78’” of Worcester’s punk scene. He was a blues lover and a staunch supporter of local music. John also loved classic cars, having been a member of the “Limbo Bus Club” that honors the VW Bus. He and his son Alex proudly worked on the “Herbie the Love Bug” Volkswagon that was used in the remake of the movie of the same name several years back, taking it on the road to displays and shows. Working on and traveling with this car gave Alex and John time with each other that will be cherished always. People who knew John will remember a generous, hard-working man who knew how to live in the present. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers his family requests contributions to support funding for ambulance service in the town of Northboro which may be mailed to the Northboro Fire Dept. 11 Pierce St. Northboro MA 01532. CALLING HOURS & MEMORIAL SERVICE All are invited to calling hours for John Thursday June 2nd from 5pm to 8pm at RONEY FUNERAL HOME in North Grafton. A Memorial Service will be Friday June 3rd at 10:00am at the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest at St. Philip Cemetery in Grafton.
