John William Ridder, 76, of Cove, passed away in Heerenveen, Netherlands, on October 16, 2011, while visiting his brother. His memorial service will be Wednesday, November 2nd, 10:30 am, at the First Presbyterian Church in La Grande. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. John was born July 31, 1935 in Malang, Indonesia. He was the son of Pieter Ridder and Ann Koning Ridder. John has lived in many places throughout the world, including Indonesia, Holland, California and Oregon. In 1957 he married Jennie Wassenaar. John was employed with the Southern California Edison Company for 35 years. He enjoyed sailing, R.V.ing, and camping. He was an active member of the Walla Walla Yacht Club. Surviving are his wife, Jennie; his two sons and their spouses, Peter and Kim Ridder of La Grande; George and Tammy Ridder of Barstow, California; his brother and spouse, Piet and Renata Ridder of Heerenveen, Netherlands; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Piet and Ann.
