Aug. 20, 1929-Mar. 13, 2011

After being diagnosed with terminal cancer Bernardo passed away peacefully at his home in Oxnard.

Bernardo was born in Apulco, Zacatecas, Mexico. He was one of three children born to the late Dario Lopez Delgadillo and Manuela Rubalcava Lopez. His brother, Juan Rubalcava Lopez, and sister, Consuelo Rubalcava Munoz, predeceased him. Bernardo married at the age of 19 to Maria Ramos Munoz, whom to his last moments he called the "Love of his Life." Bernardo came to the United States in the late 1940s to work under contract with the Bracero Program and in the 1960s moved to California to find a better life for his family. He loved listening to traditional Mexican music, attending presentations by Antonio Aguilar, wrestling, going to festivals in his hometown/country, enjoyed the rodeo and participating in horse races in his younger years, but most of all he loved just being around friends and family.

Bernardo was a father who had a great inner strength. He had strong moral principles, values and ideals, and like any good father, he wanted to instill them in his children and grandchildren. He did that in the manner by which he lived his life. He always tried to help the ones that needed it the most and will be remembered by those he touched with his generosity and his passion for living life. He was a great son, father and friend, A Great Man. He will always be in our hearts and our thoughts.

Bernardo is survived by his beloved children, Miguel Lopez, Maria de Jesus Lopez, Rosina Lopez, Vincent Lopez, Leopoldo Lopez, Manuela Lopez Jasso; eight grandchildren, Orlando Lopez, Andrea Lopez, David Lopez, Raquel Jasso, Rocio Lopez, Vincent Lopez, Daniella Jasso, Paola Jasso; son-in-law, Daniel M. Jasso; and daughter-in-law, Isabel G. Lopez; and countless other family members and friends whom were blessed to know him.

Friends and family are invited to attend his visitation which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 21, with the Vigil beginning at 6 p.m., at Santa Clara Mortuary, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 500 N. Juanita Ave., Oxnard. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
