Jose J. Martinez, age 78, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Jose was born August 11, 1931 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Rito Martinez and Concepcion Gonzalez. In 1952 he moved to Roswell, New Mexico; he would later move to California, settling in Gonzales in 1987. He was employed in the farming industry, retiring in 2001. Jose attended St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Gonzales. He is survived by brother, Delfino and Maria Martinez of Gonzales; sisters, Refugio Martinez of Guanajuato, Mexico, Enedina Martinez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Cesaria Martinez of Mexico City, Mexico, Rafaela Martinez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Fidelphia Martinez of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Rosa Martinez of Chihuahua, Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
