Jose Reyes Montemayor

Jose Reyes Montemayor, passed away at age 89 in his home on Friday, December 23, 2011. Born on March 23, 1922 in Malasiqui, Panagsinan, Jose was fascinated by music and eventually made a life's work out of his love for music, playing the trumpet. On June 12, 1946 Jose married the love of his life, Josefa Diaz Gonazles, and together they raised 11 children. Family was very important to Jose and it showed in the way he raised his family. Jose loved American History and loved music. Many remember his ability to memorize and recite the 13 original colonies of the United States and his whistling to any song on the radio. His favorite pastimes included: watching news, listening to Panagsinan folk music and being amongst his large family.

Jose was the son of the late Perfecto and Matea Montemayor. He was preceded in death by his son Regenio Montemayor and his siblings: Rustico Montemayor, Teofilio Montemayor, Evelina Montemayor Ferrer, Doroteo Montemayor, Lucia Montemayor Calugay, Armando Montemayor, and Rosario Montemayor. He survived by his wife Josefa G. Montemayor, sister, Nenita Montemayor Castilo, his children: Angela M. Fernandez, Fausto (Steve) Montemayor, Adela M. Olba, Alfredo (Alfred) Motemayor, Zenaida M. Serrano, Mario Montemayor, Lope (Louie) Montemayor, Susan M. Cacacho, Amadeo Montemayor, Lecticia M. Molina, and his many grandchildren and great-children. He will be greatly missed.

Although the sun has set on his time with us here, we know that he is in a better place. Jose will be greatly missed.
