'Josie', 89, passed away November 10, 2011. She was born on March 12, 1922 in Olongapo City, Philippines, the eldest of the 10 children of Marcial and Florentina Guerrero. Her brothers and sisters are Leonardo (deceased), Antonio (deceased), Rodolfo (deceased), Salvador (deceased), Soledad, Angelita, Armando (deceased), Luis, and Joselito. Josie is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 64 years, Eduardo Alonso, Sr. and her 5 children - Evelyn Poquez (Robert), Dennis Alonso (Rosario), Doris Rabang (Rufino), Ivonne Santos (Ferdinand) and Eduardo Alonso Jr (Jo Marie), her 13 grandchildren - Abigail Poquez Cervantes, Robert Patrick Poquez, Alan Alonso, Charito Alonso, Eduardo Alonso III, Dennis Alonso Jr, Diana Alonso, Dino Alonso, Patrick Alonso, Ardees Rabang, Alonso Jay Rabang, Julian Carlo Santos and Dara Alonso and 8 great grandchildren - Alona Alonso, Alvin Alonso, Alan Alonso, Jr., Angel Cervantes, Makayla Cervantes, Grace Cervantes, Matthew Lim and Jared Lim.

Josie prided herself, her family and all those around her in education. She finished her Bachelor of Science in Education from Philippine Normal School, Manila, her Master of Arts in Health Education from UP Extension, Bayambang, Pangasinan and her Doctorate in Health Education from Centro Escolar University, Manila in 1984. She started as a Teacher at a very young age and then quickly moved up to become Principal, District Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent, and then retired as Superintendent.

Josie was a caring wife, a loving parent, a doting grandmother, a tender great-grandmother and mother to everyone around her. She was a strong and hard working person whose influence echoes through the souls of her family and friends. Josie lived a long and happy life. She cared only for the well-being of those around her, and for that, she was loved deeply. While Josie may no longer be with us, her life, memory and achievements will be carried in the hearts and minds of all the lives she touched, forever.
