SPC Joseph Michael Lewis, of Terrell, passed away November 17, 2009 while defending our nation's freedom in Afghanistan. SPC Lewis was born September 25, 1983 in Dallas, Texas and attended L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas as well as Trinity Valley Community College in Terrell. SPC Lewis completed basic training at Ft. Knox in Kentucky in 2005. He was also a Calvary Scout to Camp Casey in Korea for 1 ½ years as well as to Ft. Lewis in Washington before being deployed to Afghanistan. SPC Lewis was currently serving in Afghanistan in the 8th squadron, 1st Calvary Regiment, on the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Joseph is survived by his wife, Teresa Lewis of Terrell; his infant daughter, Abiageal Lewis of Terrell; parents, Mike and Pam Lewis of Terrell; sister, Amanda Lewis Rodriguez and husband, Josh, of Ft. Worth; nephews Jackson Thomas and Benjamin Rodriguez; niece, Natalie Thomas; grandparents: Carl and Betty Baker of Terrell and Barbara Hall of Terrell as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends who loved him dearly. Funeral service with full military honors will be 2:00pm, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Terrell, TX, 200 W. College St, Terrell, TX 75160 with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, November 27, 2009 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, 301 W. Nash St., in Terrell. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Abiageal Lewis Trust Fund in care of American National Bank, PO Box 40, Terrell, Texas, 75160.

SPC Lewis will arrive 11:30am Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Majors Airfield in Greenville, Texas.

Arrival Processional Route:
Leaving Majors Airfield to State Highway 34 South, to Frances Street in Terrell, to Virginia Street, to Moore Ave. (Hwy. 80) West, to Rockwall Street North to Nash Street East to Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home.

Departure Processional Route to Cemetery:
East from 200 W. College (Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd) to Virginia Street North, to Frances Street North to State Highway 34 North to Highland Memorial Gardens.
