Joseph A. Gallant Obituary


GALLANT, Joseph A., Sr. Joseph A. Gallant, Sr., of East Hartford, beloved husband of wife, Eleanor (Miles) Gallant, died Monday, (November 19, 2007) at home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Shediac, New Brunswick, Canada on February 4, 1915, son of the late Emmanuel and Bella Ouellette Gallant. At age nine he moved with his family to Springfield, MA. He graduated from Technical High School in 1932. He worked at Martin Lumber until 1946 when he went to work for Hartford Builders and Finish, where he worked until he retired in 1981. Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a communications specialist. During his tour of duty he was awarded a Bronze Star and Croix de Guere. Joe was a founding parishioner and life long member of Blessed Sacrament Church of East Hartford. In addition to his wife of 65 years Eleanor, he leaves his children, JoAnne Piche and husband, Ernie Piche of Moodus, Lynette Brand and husband Peter Brand, Poultny, VT, Joseph Gallant, Jr. and wife, Julianne Roth, West Hartford, grandchildren; Doreen Cresciamano and Andrea Piche, and great grandchildren; Matthew, Genna and Daniel Cresciamano. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 15 Millbrook Drive, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at the Veteran Section of Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. His family will receive friends, Wednesday from 8:15-9:15 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
