Joseph A. Meyer

Joseph Arthur Meyer was born August 2, 1949 in Ogema, MN to Arthur and Florence (Perrault) Meyer. He spent most of his childhood in the Detroit Lakes area, attending Detroit Lakes Public Schools. He worked for Arctic Cat in Detroit Lakes and then worked as a laborer prior to starting his career as a crane operator. While working as a crane operator, he built buildings, did mining and earth moving. Joe was united in marriage to Marcie Hamre in Detroit Lakes. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Diane Stiyer in Sisseton, SD in February, 1980. They also later divorced. Joe enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and cutting wood. Survivors include 2 sons: Jonithan (Helina) Meyer of Shelly, MN, Matthew Jurchen in Nebraska; 3 daughters: Andrea Meyer in TN, Jackalyn (Danny) Benedict of Fountain, CO, Megan Meyer (Jacob Foss) of Hunter, ND, 3 grandchildren: Devon Meyer, Kiana Meyer and Kimora Meyer; 6 sisters: Eileen Dillman in Washington, Kathleen (Chuck) Ament in Washington, Jeanine (Richard) Schahill of St. Louis, MO, Laurine (Craig) Larson of Alexandria, MN, Rose Meyer of Grand Forks, ND, Bette Jo (Kerry) Herman of Ottertail, MN; 4 brothers: Ronald (Mary) Hamm of Frazee, MN, Allen Hamm of Frazee, MN, Byron (Penny) Hamm of Glyndon, MN and Arthur (Michelle) Meyer of Barnesville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Rita Meyer and an uncle: Merle Meyer
