Joseph F. Rossie, 85, of Cleveland and long-time resident of Rockford, IL, loving father of Joe, Donna and Karen Rossie (Bill); dear grandfather of David, Ben and Grace Rossie; dear brother of Mary Lou Wentling and Sarah Boyert; companion and friend of pet cat Queenie. Mr. Rossie was a retired aerospace engineer from Sunstrand Aviation in Rockford, IL, and held multiple patents for motors and pumps, some of which were equipment on the space shuttle, and was a past president of S.A.E. He was also proud to have conquered Mt. Whitney on 3 separate occasions during his lifetime. He also managed the 1969 Broadview Hts. girls softball team, winners of the Greater Cleveland Championship that year. He passed away Friday, January 13, 2012. Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests memorial contributions be forwarded to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. 7th Flr., New York, NY 10001. Prayer service at the funeral home Thursday, January 19 at 11 A.M. followed by Mass of Resurrection at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Family Church, 7367 York Rd., Parma. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
