Joseph G. Ciccone, 97, of Bloomfield, passed away Tuesday November 12, 2013. Born in Newark to the late Nicholas and Julia (nee Sturchio) Ciccone, he has lived in Bloomfield for many years. Mr. Ciccone was employed by the Newark Branch of the United States Postal Service for 26 years retiring in 1972. He served in the United States Army during World War 2 seeing action in the Pacific and Philippines. He was an avid golfer and a professional golf instructor. He was an accomplished artist and was the Director of the Art Department for the Newark Post Office. He was a frequent dancer at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. Joe was known for his upbeat, good natured personality, always telling jokes and making people laugh. Mr. Ciccone is survived by his sisters Barbara Rensing, Holly Seigler, Gloria Wade, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Thomas, and his sisters Genevieve Gavazzi and Edith McQueen. Services will be conducted 1 pm Monday at the Megaro Memorial Home 503 Union Ave Belleville (megaromemorialhome.com). Interment with military honors to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery Montclair. Visitation Monday 10 am -1 pm. This Online Memorial has been created to commemorate the life of Joseph G.
