Joseph H. Johnson Sr., 91, of Louisville, passed away Monday at Norton Audubon Hospital. He was a native of New Haven, KY, a retired chemical operator for Celanese Coatings and a member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Johnson. Survivors include six daughters, Mary Ann Gahafer, Margaret Shouse and her husband, Paul, Cath-erine Canty and her husband, Bill, of Brownsville, KY, Rita Johnson, Jean Skaggs and her husband, Don, of Bardstown, KY, and Laura Osborn; three sons, Joseph H. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Ima, of Leesburg, FL, George Johnson of Seoul, South Korea, and John Johnson and his wife, Annie, of Flagler Beach, FL; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Mary Catherine Koch. His funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 1816 Rangeland Rd., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air.
