Joseph Leonard Connolly Jr., of Fairy Glen Dr., North Haven, passed away on January 11, 2012 at the Masonicare Health Care Center. Born in New Haven on January 16, 1943, he was a son of the late Joseph L. Connolly Sr. and the late Virginia Jermine Connolly, both of New Haven. Joseph leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Andrea O'Brien Connolly; his loving children, Elizabeth E. Connolly Martell (David) of Wallingford and Christopher K. Connolly (Donna) of Colchester; brother, Kevin Connolly of Mashpee, MA; and his adoring grandchildren, Rebecca and Erin Connolly. Joe was a 1960 graduate of North Haven High School and was self employed at Connolly Associates. Joe was a caring spirit, and was very active in the community as a volunteer and supporter of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Clothes Closet at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James in New Haven. His love of animals - from chipmunks to horses - was unbounded, and some of his happiest times were spent with his children in the pasture with their horses. A memorial service to honor his life will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church, North Haven, on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Arrangements with BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Donations in Joe's memory may be sent to: Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Clothes Closet at the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James, 57 Olive St., New Haven, CT 06511.
