Joseph Liston Stanley
1926 – 2010

Joseph Liston Stanley passed away at his home November 7, 2010 with his wife, Barbara by his side and surrounded by his family. Loved by family and all who knew him.

Joseph was born in Murray, Utah, January 19, 1926 to Charles LeRoy and Fernessa Clair Morris Stanley. Joseph was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life. Joseph loved the Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ. His testimony of these truths distilled upon his family.

Joseph served his country during World War II, and served in the USCG on the Coast Guard Icebreaker, Eastwind. He had a great love for his country and what it stood for. Joe was a man of great character and integrity, with a charitable heart and a giving nature to those in need. Joe understood the value of hard work and instilled this upon his children. He was a craftsman with a great understanding of building and construction.

Joseph married Barbara Thomas, August 28, 1954 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, November 11, 1963. Joseph and Barbara were blessed with 17 children: Danna Rae, Sandra Lee, Richard Duane (Cindy), Kenneth Craig (Patti), Robert LeRoy (Sue), David Herman (DeAnn), Deborah Joe Jensen (Leonard), James Scott (Valerie), Joseph Liston Jr. (Cindy), Thomas Kendall (Janeen), Barbara Grace Kingsbury (Kyle), Jackie Lynn Petersen (Eric), Judy Ann Hart (Ken), Patricia Teri Wilkin (Mike), Sharon Traci Stanley (David), William Michael (Lorilyn) Tonya DeAnn Baker (Jeff); 78 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and daughters, Danna and Sandra. Survived by sister Ramona Fivas, brother, Roy Stanley (Mally); sister, Connie and brother, Brent (Kathy).

A viewing will be held Thursday, November 11th, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 13366 So. 1300 E. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12th, 12:00 p.m. at the church where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 E. Bengal Blvd (7800 So).
