JOSEPH MICHAEL TARANTO, AGE 74, OF Avondale, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Gloria Cali Taranto, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph Taranto, Sr. and Anna Buono Taranto.

He was a Fireman with the City of New York for 28 years, retiring in 1991.

Mr. Taranto was a member of the Assumption BVM Church in West Grove, PA.

He enjoyed reading, was a movie buff, and being with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Gregory A. Taranto and his wife Beverly of Washington State ; two daughters, Tina Ann Taranto of Lindenhurst, NY and Alisa Pito and her husband Jonathan of West Grove, PA; one sister, Rose Taranto of Melbourne, Fl; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from3:00 to 5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Assumption BVM Church, 300 State Road, West Grove, PA. His Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 Saturday morning, March 23, 2013 at Assumption BVM Church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Brandywine River Valley Hospice, 121 Bell Tower Lane, Oxford, PA 19363 or to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
