Joseph Szot of Keene, NY, died unexpectedly in the Town of Gardiner on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. He was 50 years old.
Born on March 19,1961, in Ballston Spa, NY, he was the son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Malanowski) Szot.
Joseph graduated from Clarkson University in 1983 with a degree in engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer for the United States Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, NY, until 2004.
Mr. Szot's greatest love and passion was outdoors adventures. He was an avid rock and ice climber and had traveled the world climbing various peaks and areas.
He is predeceased by a brother Paul Szot.
Survivors include his companion Aya Alt of Keene, NY, and four brothers, Michael of Rock City Falls, NY, David of Keeseville, NY, John of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Daniel and Daniel's wife Brook Hobson of Saratoga Springs, NY.
A Celebration of Joseph's Life will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome for a time of reflection from 1-2 pm prior to the service. After the service, friends and family are welcome to gather at the home of Daniel Szot and Brook Hobson at 10 Stratton Street in Saratoga Springs.
His family will scatter his ashes on the family homestead in Rock City Falls, NY.
