Joseph Trongone, 89, of Clifton passed away on March 11, 2012. Born in Paterson, Mr. Trongone was raised in Elmwood Park and had lived in Clifton since 1962. Prior to retiring in 1982, he had been employed in the Maintenance Department of Continental Can Co. in Paterson for over thirty years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. Mr. Trongone was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Paterson. He was a longtime member of the Clifton Masonic Lodge, the Deriters Club, the Valley Seniors and VFW Post 7165 in Clifton. Mr. Trongone was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Mary (nee Barrise) Trongone; by his three brothers: Anthony, Nicholas and George Trongone; and by his sister, Jean Van Arsdale. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (nee West), of Clifton; his son, Robert Trongone and his wife, Joan, of Wharton, NJ; his daughter, Nancy Schreiber and her husband, Albert, of Clifton; four grandchildren: John Joseph Schreiber, Joseph Robert Trongone, Tracy Beth Hummel and Stephen Michael Tromgone; and two great-grandchildren: Hanna Marie Trongone and Anthony Robert Trongone. Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 am at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visiting Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Masonic service 7:30 pm. Memorial contributions to Westminster Presbyterian Church, c/o 29 Belgrade Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013 would be appreciated.
