When we moved into our new home over 40 years ago, the best feature was not on the blueprint – it was in the house next door. Mrs. Wagoner was a gem- she gave us our first jobs - raking leaves, polishing silverware and putting stamps on her Christmas cards. She always kept special crafts and snacks for us when we came over to visit and overfeed her fish. Over the years, she never missed an important event – graduations, weddings, baptisms, etc. She hosted many family dinners, extending invitations to all of our growing families, in-laws, and friends. Each of our children was presented with a beautiful needlepoint picture announcing their birth, hand-made by Grandma Wagoner. She was challenged the year we gave her 3 new additions! Jo Wagoner was ahead of her time -well-educated and fiercely independent with an adventurous spirit. She was a role- model for how to grow old without ever getting old. She was family and she will be missed.

There was so much more to Mrs. Wagoner - it is hard to know where to begin. A generous, kind, gracious soul who always had a kind word for everyone, and a door that was always open. She was loved by generations of Doyles and extended family and will be sorely missed. My children are the better for having known her.
