Gastonia, NC Josephine Intorre Rankin, 84, Joined our heavenly Father peacefully on Saturday, November 17th at the age of 84. She was born in Fayette County, PA on March 21, 1928, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Eppolito Intorre. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, favorite aunt and friend to everyone she met. She is lovingly referred to as Aunt Acie, Nan and Mom. She lived her life to the fullest and believed in the mantra idle hands are the devil's tools. Needless to say, her hands were never idle. She was passionate about family, they came before all else. She loved to spend timewith family and friends, travel, spend hours in her flower gardens, make quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She was a masterful seamstress and a wonderful cook and baker. Jo was a founding member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and held many jobs throughout her life; social worker, day care provider, and cook to name a few. She was the first to volunteer and never turned anyone away - all were welcome at her table – there was always room for one more. She will be remembered by the lives she touched, the people she motivated and the legacy of the lesson that can extend for years to come, like ripples from a skipped stone across an endless lake. She is survived by her husband Kelly of 65 years, her children Kathy (John) Lanier, Rose (Joe) Sullivan, Lorraine (Buck) Grissom and Doug (Cindy) Rankin; 13 grand children and numerous great grand children; brother, Eugene Intorre; sisters, Theresa Childs & Julia DeLella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Bob Rankin; brother, Stephen Fuchick; sisters, Carmella Licciardelli & Sandar Collins. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM, Monday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church with Father Frank Cancro as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Belmont Abbey Cemetery. Memorials in the name of Josephine Rankin may be made to Queen of the Apostles Church or to Belmont Abbey. Share condolences online by visiting www.mcleanfuneral.com and signing the guestbook. McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont is caring for the Rankin family.
