Josephine Elizabeth Vaughns was born January 18, 1952 in St. Louis, MO at Homer G. Phillips Hospital to the union of Ovin Vaughns and Josephine Riles Vaughns. Both parents have preceded her in death. She received her early childhood education in the Michigan Public School System. As a person who sought to improve herself, she continued her education in her adult years by attending Stratford Career Institution. There she earned her High School Diploma and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Certificate of Completion in Child Psychology. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She accepted her calling into the Ministry as a young woman and was ordained under Bishop Irma Cannida of the Greater True Vine Spiritual Church where she was then a member. Upon God's urging, Josephine founded and pastored The Angels of Mercy Spiritual Church of Jesus Christ, Inc., as a home ministry. She then became a member of the Greater Faith M.B. Church under the leadership of Bishop Arthur L. Kelly who was instrumental in her Pastoral training and spiritual growth. From there she re-established her home ministry first on Cote Brilliante and later on Wellston Place. At a young age she married Joe Louis Brown Sr. and to this union 2 children were born Lisa and Joe Louis Jr. After Joe Sr. passing, she met and married Lloyd E. Coleman and to this union 2 children were born, Diana who died in infancy and China Maria. Years after the dissolution of that marriage God brought her Thomas Clemons Jr. and they joined in marriage until death. Josephine lovingly accepted Elizabeth and Thomas III as her children of this union to complete her family. Her drive to attain personal excellence brought her to the most important achievement of her life. On December 18, 2011 she graduated from Earth High and enrolled in Heaven University where she in now majoring in Praising God and studying at the feet of Jesus. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Thomas Clemons Jr.; 5 children, Lisa (Jeff) Joe Louis Jr., China Maria, Elizabeth and Thomas III.; 3 sisters, Minnie (John A.) Ann and Melvolia (John Y); 1 aunt, Mary Dell Lewis of South Bend, IN; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grand-daughter and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
