Joyce E. Larson, 83, of Marquette, passed away Thursday morning, December 8, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1928 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, a daughter of the late Fred and Elna (Nelson) Perron. She was a graduate of Kingsford High School. On July 24, 1948, Joyce married Harlan Larson in Kingsford and in 1961, they moved to Marquette from Quinnesec where she worked with her family in the hotel business. Joyce was a member of St. Peter Cathedral as well as the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Survivors include three children, Cindy (Jeff) Massie of Negaunee, Tim (Dee Dee) Larson and Randy (Stacy) Larson, both of Marquette; five grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Kennedy, Dylan and Elyza Larson, Spencer and Hunter Larson; one great granddaughter, Brooke Kennedy; also several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Harlan J. Larson on January 16, 2006 and a brother, Wayne Perron. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 12th at 12 noon in St. Peter Cathedral with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating and assisted by Deacons Scott Jamieson and Dean Jackson. Visitation will take place in the Bishop's Room of the cathedral from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Spring burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Kennedy, Brooke Kennedy, Dylan Larson, Elyza Larson, Spencer Larson, Hunter Larson, Eric Stier, and Garrett Pentecost. Knights and Ladies of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem will also be in attendance. Memorials are preferred to the Marquette General Foundation for a fund to be established to benefit organ donation, 580 W. College Ave., Marquette, MI 49855.
