Joyce M. Crafton (1931 – 2011) Joyce M. Crafton (Dynes) passed away on October 9, 2011, after a year long battle with cancer. Joyce was born on March 15, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to parents George and Reba "Buster" Dynes. She was a long time resident of Skagit County and spent her 30 year teaching career at Lucille Umbarger Elementary School in Burlington, WA. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Western Washington University. She started her retirement years with her husband, Bob Crafton, on Camano Island. They began traveling in their motor home, often with their grandchildren Michael and Katie Crafton. They soon became snowbirds and eventually had a home in Yuma, Arizona where they would meet many of their long time friends and enjoy the warm winters. After the death of her husband, she spent the last five years in Washougal, Washington, with her good friend and companion, Jim Cameron. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Tina Davis, her grandchildren, Blake Davis, Michael and Katie Crafton along with their mother Melinda Iacolucci, her sister Irene Dynes and her brother John Dynes. Joyce's family is grateful for the wonderful hospice care she received and special thanks to Northwest Cancer Specialists in Vancouver, WA. Memorial services will be in Longview, Washington at a time to be determined. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
