Juanita Jeanette Dennard, 87, of Hot Springs died Thursday August 25, 2011 at her residence. She was born March 15, 1924 in Crossett, Ar. to the late James Edward & Verdie Bell Dean Powell.

For Nita, family always came first. She loved to cook and to bake, and she was happiest when she was making something sweet for her grandchildren like her lemon meringue and chocolate pies. As a military wife, she enjoyed the frequent travel and exposure to new experiences in assignments like post-war Germany and Japan. Along the way, she made many dear friends in many places. Closer to home and later in life, Nita found great pleasure in collecting china, quilts and antique dolls. She will be remembered for her ever cheerful spirit, her grace and her sweet smile.

Survivors include daughter, Patricia Peterman; son, Danny Dennard; sister, Alva McBroom; sister-in-law, Sherry Powell all of Hot Springs; grandchildren, Michelle Hunt, Alicia Peterman, Dina Herdman and Danny Dennard Jr.; great grandchildren, Samual Hunt, Leah & Lacy Herdman; many nieces & nephews and special friends Bertha & Sonny Droke.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Divers and Dr. Bimlendra Sharma.

Special thanks to Genesis Cancer Center, Lakewood Convalescent Home, Arkansas Hospice and nurses 4th floor ICU St. Joseph Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gross Funeral Home.
