Mrs. Judith A. (Newcomer) Reed, 67, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg and formerly of Washington Meadows Lane, Zullinger, PA, died at 9:15 P.M., Saturday, November 5, 2011, in the nursing home. Born August 30, 1944 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of Ruth A. (Strausner) Newcomer of Zullinger and the late Emory Ervin Newcomer. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. She and her husband, the late Floyd L. Reed, Sr., were married on January 20, 1984 in the Hagerstown Church of God. She lived in the Waynesboro, Greencastle, Five Forks, and Zullinger areas. Mr. Reed died on November 17, 1992. Mrs. Reed entered the nursing home in April 1997. Mrs. Reed was a medical record administrator for the Waynesboro Hospital from 1962-1980. She later worked at the Maryland Correctional Institute from 1980-1984 and prior to retiring on disability in August 1992, she was a personal assistant and quality control agent for Tab Books, which later became McGraw Hill, in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. She attended services at the Church of Christ at Hagerstown and enjoyed working on crafts including, plastic canvas, knitting, and crocheting. In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Ronda L. Kleppinger and her husband Brian of Waynesboro; one step-granddaughter, Savanah Shockey; one step-great-grandson, Aidan Shockey; one sister, Dorothy L. Newcomer of Zullinger; one brother, Robert L. Newcomer of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 10, 2011 in the Chapel at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg with Pastor Gerrard R. Fuss officiating. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery, near Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Church of Christ at Hagerstown, 10014 White Hall Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA, 17201.
