Judith Tipton Hooper, 72, of Safety Harbor, FL, passed away quietly in her home on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, with her family and her beloved teacup poodle, "Holly Marie" at her side.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1939, in the Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama. She was married to Captain Enoch L Hooper also from the Canal Zone who preceded her in death in Dec. of 1985.
She worked for the federal government for 25 years in varied civil service work for the Panama Canal and U.S. Air Force before retiring in 1992 from McDill Air Force Base in Tampa. She was also an active member of the Panama Canal Society and loved to travel, and spend time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
She is Survived by her sons, Van Foster, of the Republic of Panama and Wade Hooper of Baton Rouge Louisiana, her daughters, Valerie Hooper of Baton Rouge and Vanessa Garris of Asheville, North Carolina; as well as 6 treasured grandchildren, Bennett Smith, Valerie Foster, Jesse Foster, Gino Foster, Emma Kate Garris, and Ty Cal Hooper.
Judy will be remembered for her love of life and family and friends; her wonderful wit; her pride in her children and elegant sense of style.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday Dec. 17 at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Funeral Home.
