Julius Dean Dunlap was born on April 27, 1926 in Austin, Texas to the late Maude Watkins-Dunlap and the late John Dunlap. He graduated from L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. He furthered his education at Huston-Tillotson College (University) and then transferred to Texas Southern University where he received his Master Degree in History. He joined the United States Army and served in World War II. He was honorably discharged August 1946. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Sarah Forcey on April 19, 1951; to this union, three children were born. Julius joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church family in 1962 where he served faithfully for 48 years. He served the Church in various capacities: Deacon, Scout Master, Sunday School Teacher in the Youth Department, Youth Director of the Sunday School, Bus Ministry - over a period of 25 years, Congregational Care Ministry, Discipleship Training Group 5. Brotherhood/ Baptist Men, Social Committee, 1999 General Chairperson of Men’s Day and Team Captain. He received the Ebenezer Distinguished Service Award and was recognized as Ebenezer’s Man of the Year in 2004. He was a member of Capital City Lords - Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Julius was very devoted to his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they were able to melt his heart and get just about anything they wanted. He loved supporting them in their school and church activities and capturing every moment with taking pictures. Julius also loved to dance and spend time with family and friends. Julius leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Sarah Forcey Dunlap; two sons, Ralph (Rose) Dunlap of Laguna Niguel, California, Julius Rahn Dunlap (Tenya); one daughter Deborah Shepard (Ray); five grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica of California, DeJon, DeLisa and Meshe of Pflugerville; one great-grandchild, Marcus; one god-daughter, Michelle Ellison; one sister, Mozelle Edwards of Austin; one nephew, Wilbert Ray Edwards of Austin; and a host of relatives and friends.
