Karen Clinger Maestas, age 70 of Payson, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011 surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 8, 1940 in Mapleton, Utah, to Donald and Virginia Collins Clinger.

She married Paul Joe Maestas on October 16, 1957 in Elko, Nevada.

She is survived by her husband and five children: Pauline (Jack) Bryant, Ron (Karen) Maestas, Annette (Kevin) Anderson, Stephanie (Greg) Kramer, Stephen (Stacy) Maestas, 16 grandchildren, 1 brother Kenneth (JoAnn) Clinger and 5 sisters: Colette Shuler, Ardella (Gwen) Clinger, Anne (Marv) Holmes, Mary Jo (Paul) Naylor, Peggy (Cary) Zobell.

She was raised in Payson where she met and married her sweetheart. She went back to school after having her children and graduated from Weber State Nursing Program. She loved being a Labor and Delivery Nurse for 35 years. In 1997 she received a national award for Nursing Excellence and she will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion that she showed her patients.

She assisted in the birth of 15 of her 16 grandchildren and they were the light of her life. She loved supporting them in all of their activities. Most of her life revolved around family and family activities

She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various organizations within the church

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Payson 14th Ward Chapel, 110 South 300 West, Payson, UT. Family and friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Friday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church Saturday, 8:45-9:45 a.m. Interment will take place in Payson City Cemetery.
