"Life is like the ocean. Waves will try to knock you down and push you back to where you started but once you fight through them, the entire ocean is yours." Karen Jacobs died on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester after a 2 ½ year valiant battle with colon cancer. She was 49.
Karen was born on May 12, 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut a daughter of Carol S. Jacobs-Missle and the late Irwin Jacobs. Raised and educated in Framingham she graduated from Framingham North High School in 1985. She loved sports and was a great athlete playing both tennis and soccer. She went on to the University of Maine graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor's degree in marketing and management.
Karen worked for many years in the Insurance business first at Carlin Insurance Agency in Natick but for the last 18 years at the Sullivan Group in Worcester. She lived in Framingham, Ashland and Millbury before moving to Shrewsbury where she lived for the last three years. When Karen wasn't working, she loved the simple things in life, but mostly spending time at the beach. "The Voice of the Sea Speaks to the Soul" and it is the beach where Karen would go to be that free spirit. She would summer on Cape Cod and it's on the Cape that her love affair began with the ocean, sun and sand. "Sandy Toes & Salty Kisses…" Karen was a loyal fan of her much loved Boston Red Sox.
The greatest joy in her life was family, especially her daughter and best friend, Brittany Auclair with whom she lived and spent so many special times together. The graduation trip to Italy was at the top of the fondest memories but just being together was what Karen cherished.
Karen is survived by her daughter Brittany of Shrewsbury, her mother, Carol Jacobs-Missle and husband, Robert of Westborough; her sister, Lisa Jacobs and her partner Doug of Marshfield, her brother Michael Jacobs and his wife, Mary of Sudbury; her nieces and nephews, Matt and Kate, Sydney and Jacob and her uncle, Ted Jacobs of Everett.
