Karen T. Roberts passed away at her home in Melrose, surrounded by her loving family, on July 17, 2012. She was 69 years of age. Karen was born in Stoneham on February 19, 1943 to the late Thomas W. Roberts Sr. and Margaret (Carroll) Roberts. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School and Melrose High School, Class of 1961. Karen worked as an administrator for the Carpenter's Pension Fund in Burlington and then in Wilmington for over 25 years. Miss Roberts enjoyed sports, cooking and loved the Boston Bruins. She was the family photographer, liked spending time in Florida during the winter and in Marshfield during the summer. Karen was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose, was a member of the Revere Elks and participated in the Alzheimer's Walk for many years in memory of her mother Margaret. She was the caring sister of Mary Kelley of Melrose and the late Thomas W. Roberts Jr., Gerald Roberts, Charles Roberts, Claire Roberts and Margaret Gover. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, July 21st at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Research Association, 311 Arsenal Street Watertown, MA 02472.
