Karren Marie Peterson Haskell, our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Daughter, Wife, and friend, returned to her Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, July 12th, at home with her husband, at the age of 58.
She was born the third of five children, in Nephi, Utah on March 16, 1953, to Stanley Junior and Colleen Smith Peterson. She spent most of her life in Payson, and graduated from Payson High School and L.D.S. Seminary. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church, and believed strongly in Priesthood blessings.
She married the love of her life, Craig Haskell, in the Provo L.D.S. Temple, on September 8, 1972. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, & aunt up until her health declined, at which time she struggled to do all that she had done in earlier years, but her love for her family and friends never changed. During those good times, there was not a better wife, mother or grandmother. When her kids’ friends would come over she became a young child with them. They all loved her and wanted to be in her home. She also was a cat lover and there never was a time in her married life that she didn’t have a cat in the house, which she loved immensely.
She was a stay at home Mom in later years, but had worked at the Fritzi sewing plant in Spanish Fork, Utah, and for the Division of Family & Child Services in Orem, and after obtaining her Certified Nursing Assistant degree, worked at Country View Manor in Provo.
During her husband’s military deployment to Iraq in 2004, there was not a better support system than what Marie gave to him. She never let on about what was really going on at home, but she was stalwart in her support of him and his job there. No wife gave better support to their husband than what Marie did during that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both sets of grandparents, and her sister Tracy, whose death, she never fully got over. She is survived by her husband, Craig, her children Jennifer (Chet) Reynolds, Salem, Wade (Brynn) Haskell, Payson, Matthew (Nikki) Haskell, Payson, & Chelsey (Jared) Hone, Santaquin, seven grandchildren, Wyatt, Whitley, Macy, Ty, Mallie, Jericho, & Haize, 3 brothers, Randall Peterson & Douglas (Carol) Peterson, Payson, and Jeffrey Chugger (Mary) Peterson, Redmond, Father & Mother in-law Ivan & DeLowa Haskell, Payson, nephews Ryan Mikesell & Callie Mikesell, Payson, & Kris Mikesell, Montana, brothers and sisters in-law, Jeffrey (Aldean) Haskell, Idaho, Betty Ann (Bill) Murray, Rose Park, Steven (Karen) Haskell & Sandy (Joe) Dinkins, Salem, her Aunt Donna (Don) Nelson, Salt Lake City, many nieces and nephews, and her cat Lizzie.
We love you and miss you, and we will always be grateful to have had you in our lives for the years you were with us. We are so happy you are free from pain and are at peace. “God be with you ‘til we meet again.”
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Payson 7th Ward L.D.S. Chapel at 1138 E 100 S, Payson. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday evening July 14th at the Walker Mortuary in Payson, 587 South 100 West, Payson, and at the Church, at 9:45-10:45 am prior to the funeral.
