Kate Patterson departed this life at Pines Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Madison, N.J., Sunday, December 20, 2009. She was born 1919 to the union of the late Isaac and Celeste Martin in Jenkinsville, South Carolina and came to Morristown at and early age. Kate attended Morristown schools and graduated from Morristown High School and went on to graduate from Apex School of Cosmetology. She worked at Mills Beauty Salon and later operated her beauty shop retiring in the early 90�S. She was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church, Morristown where she taught Sunday School and was treasurer for more than 50 years. Kate was also a Past Matron of Bethsaida #7 Order of Eastern Star; member of the Morris Township seniors; life member of the NAACP and participated and supported Bethel Angels HIV/AIDS quilting Ministry. Kate was preceded in death by her husband, William Patterson, Sr., her son, William (Lucky) Patterson, Jr., sister Venia Martin and brother Isaac Martin, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters Amy Anderson, Morristown and Irene Bryant, Delaware; one brother Richard Martin, Morristown; sister-in-law Emma Martin; two nephews, five nieces, four great nieces, three great nephews, 2 grreat great nieces, 1 great great nephew and a host of a extended family and friends. Thanks to the staff of Pine Acres and a special thanks to the aides for their loving and tender care. In lieu of flowers, please honor her favorite charity: Bethel Angels, 59 Spring Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
