Brattleboro- Katherine Louise, "Kathy" Holloway, 51, of Sherwood Circle, died Sunday morning, July 5, 2009 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.Kathy was born in Ayer, Mass, on July 20, 1957, the daughter of Henry and Hildagarde (Rouscher) Lopez. She attended St. Anthony Parochial School in Shirley, Mass and Ayer High School.A resident of Brattleboro for the past 11 years, she had been employed as a home health aide for the Vermont Nursing Association and had also worked at Austine School. Previously and while residing in Shirley she had been employed at Cains Foods in Ayer and for Sampson Ocean Systems in Shirley, Mass.Kathy was known for her big heart and spirit of giving, always ready to assist the needy in the greater Brattleboro area. She volunteered and assisted at the Community Bible Chapel's clothing and food drives.She enjoyed gardening, helping those in need and time shared with her family.Kathy was first married to Gene R. Vandal and later married Dario A. Pollitella.On October 16, 2004 in Mont Vernon, N.H. she was married to James R. Holloway who survives.Besides her husband, she leaves, four daughters, Cheyenne Vandal of Portland, OR, Gina Muldoon of North Andover, MA, Alida Blouin of Ayer and Alise Vandal of Brattleboro, three sons, Joshua Vandal of Shirely, Dario Pollitella, Jr. and Andrew Pollitella both of Brattleboro.Additionally she leaves, one sister, Patricia Chester of Louisville, KY, a brother, Henry M. Lopez of AZ, 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A Memorial service in celebration of her life will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Green Mountain Chapel on Western Avenue with Pastor Michael Gantt, officiating.There are no calling hours at the funeral home.Memorial contributions in Kathy's name may be made to, The Oncology Department, C/O Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, 17 Belmont Avenue, Brattleboro, VT. 05301.
