Katherine Loretta "Kate" Bisaha passed away on January 30, 2012 at her Apple Valley home surrounded by family. She died at 91 years old after a long battle with dementia. Katherine was born September 12, 1920 in North Vandergrift, Pennsylvania to immigrants Stefan and Maria Pasterik and was the youngest of their seven children. She was preceded in death by her first husband Adam Bisaha and her second husband, Robert Klingensmith and one grandson, Ron Andring, Jr.., as well as all her siblings. Katherine is survived by the four children she had with Adam: sons Adam Bisaha, Jr. and Thomas Bisaha, both of Spring Church, Pennsylvania; Jeff Bisaha of Apple Valley, California and daughter Judy Andring of Apple Valley. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Debbie Bisaha of Apollo, Pennsylvania, Robin Hall, Pamela Kiro and Thomas Bisaha, Jr.of Spring Church, Renee Quinn of Murraysville, Pennsylvania, and Michelle Theis of Victorville, California;11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Katherine worked as a waitress and housekeeper in her teens but settled in as a homemaker after marriage and continued on in that role for over 60 years. She was also an avid gardener who loved growing colorful flowers of all types. She liked to cook, making many ethnic recipes handed down from her mother and older sisters. Children were Katherine's great joy in life - her own, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and any child she happened to meet. In 2002, arthritis forced her to rely on a wheelchair and afterwards her favorite activity was to go shopping. This allowed her to meet countless new children that she immediately "adopted". Parents of those children may remember the somewhat eccentric lady in the wheelchair stopping to play and talk with their kids. None of these parents ever seemed to mind having their own shopping trips delayed and it made Katherine very happy to have the opportunity to interact with their children. We knew her as "Mum", "Gramma" or "Nana" and she will be greatly missed. Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Hills Mortuary. In accordance with Katherine's wishes, there will be no viewing and she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Desert Catholic Church in Apple Valley at a time and date to be determined. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 10th @ 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Desert Church, 18386 Corwin Road, Apple Valley, CA Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
