COLUMBIA - Graveside service for Kathleen Cantrell Steele, 85, will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21 2012, at Spring Hill Memorial Gardens, Chesnee,S.C. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mrs. Steele, wife of the late Collis Melvin Steele Jr., died Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Born in Chesnee, she was a daughter of the late Hazie E. and Fay Corne Cantrell. Prior to living in Columbia, she lived in Charleston the first eleven years of her marriage. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1943. Mrs. Steele enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club.
Surviving are a sister, Peggy C. Seigler, of Columbia; a brother, Steve W. (Jo Ann) Cantrell of Mooresville; nephew, William "Bill" Cantrell of Charlotte; nieces, Elizabeth (Clay) Hassard of Greensboro, N.C., Allison (Louie) Harrison of Columbia; great-nieces, Katie Harrison of Columbia, Allison and Claire Hassard, both of Greensboro, N.C.; great-nephew, Jack Cantrell of Charlotte.
