Kathryn "Kathy" [Kessey] Benton, 38, passed away August 17, 2009 at home surrounded by family and friends, including two little dogs. Kathy was born September 23, 1970 in Bethesda, MD, the daughter of Ed and Sue [Stranahan] Kessey. Kathy and her husband, Jerome Benton, moved to Austin 5 years ago. Kathy will be remembered by her sense of humor, her charm, and tenacity for life. An accomplished software engineer, Kathy always impressed colleagues with her depth of knowledge, innovation, and ability to get straight to the root cause of any problem. Survivors include Kathy's husband, Jerome, of Austin; sister Karen Ball and her husband Steve, of Greenwich, CT; sister Kristen Wray and her husband Danny, of Grand Isle, LA; mother Sue Kessey and father Ed, of Tulsa, OK; nieces Sadie Ball and Janet Martin, and nephew Jake Ball. Kathy's family wish to thank Hospice Austin, Seaton Medical, and Texas Oncology for their friendship, patience, and professionalism. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 1 PM at the Austin-Peel & Son funeral home, 607 E. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX, 78752. Interment will be in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill, IN, with her beloved maternal grandparents. Donations to the American Cancer Society and Hospice Austin are greatly appreciated by Kathy's family.
