Kathryn W. Johnson
1926-2011
Kathryn Watson Johnson, age 84, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2011. Born Oct. 18, 1926 to Henry and Ella Watson in Salt Lake City, UT. Married Richard A. Swenson, later divorced. Married Reed S. Johnson in the Manti Temple July 23, 1958.
Her home was a gathering place for family, friends and neighbors, who especially loved her Christmas cookies. Devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. Proud grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Kathryn dealt gracefully with much adversity, yet always had a positive attitude—and a smile. She had an abiding testimony of the Savior and endured faithfully to the end.
Survived by her children, Lee (Valerie) Swenson, Ann (Jim) Smith, Greg (Patty) Swenson, Laurie (Ben) Hathaway; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Reed; daughter, Julie; parents; siblings, Beth Yates, Helen Hart, Maurine Yose, Hank Watson and Kenneth Watson. Special thanks to the staff of Legacy House of Taylorsville and Deanna of Inspiration Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral Services Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Memorial Chapel, 3115 E. 7800 So. Cottonwood Heights, UT. Friends and family may visit on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Murray Memorial, 5850 So. 900 E. Murray, UT and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
