Kay Ivankovig, 84, of North Liberty, IN, passed away Tuesday December 13, 2011, in Brentwood Assisted Living, LaPorte, IN.

She was born on January 27, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Martin and Rose (Kalamaja) Kubiak. On October 13, 1951, as Kay Kubiak, she married Paul Ivankovig, who preceded her in death on October 23, 1989.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Janice (Tom) Curtis of Walkerton, IN; her son, James (Anita) Ivankovig of LaPorte; five grandchildren, Jenny and Jacob (Jannie) Ivankovig, Abby, Joseph (Kristin) and Ricky (Alyssa) Curtis; by two great-grandchildren, Robert J. and Porter James Ivankovig; and by a brother, Leonard Kubiak of Torrance, CA.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Arthur Kubiak.

Mrs. Ivankovig worked as a bookkeeper and teller for 1st Source Bank and Trust for 10 years, before retiring in 1951 to start a family. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Walkerton, a member of ZB Falcons and the William Penn Association.

Private funeral services for Kay will be held at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
