K. G. Riley, 89, a resident of Alanton for 41 years, passed on June 2, 2011. Born in 1922 in Ft. Wayne, IN, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940, and retired in 1970 at the rank of Lt. Cmdr. In 1987 he retired as an Old Dominion University administrator after 15 years of service. He was a past Captain of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. He is survived by his son, Terry E. Riley of Virginia Beach, VA; and grandchildren, Matthew Riley of Connecticut and Shannon Riley Madden of Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
