Kenneth Albert Priebe 86, of Mishawaka passed away on June 18, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family after a valiant fight with Alzheimer. Ken was born on February 6, 1926 to George and Clara (Staschke) Priebe. George preceded him in death in 1987 and Clara in 1992. On May 3, 1973, Ken married Ann Reed. Ann survives along with son Robert (Theresa) Priebe, of Edwardsburg and grandchildren Steven of South Bend and Kelly of Chicago, Ill., son James(Chris)Priebe and grandchildren Alyssa, Kayzie and Jennifer, all of Granger. As well as grandchildren Kelsey Cataldo of Mishawaka, and Michael Cataldo of Elkhart. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert of Mason, Ohio, George of Irvine, California and Don of Maple City, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Kay Ellen(Kayzie) in 1969 as well as daughter, Cindy Cataldo, in May of 2012. Ken attended Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, IN. and received a Bachelors degree from Valparaiso University. He began a career in printing at Mossberg and Company in South Bend and in 1962 Ken became a founding member of Lithotone, Inc. of Elkhart where he remained on the board of directors. Ken served in the Army as a White House Guard during WWII and was a former President of the Craftsmen Club and a member of the Sodestrum Society. He was an avid collector of Japanese wood block prints, and also loved listening to music, reading, pulling weeds and enjoyed sailing for both pleasure and racing on the waters of Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed traveling to St. Maarten and the mountains of Waynesville, North Carolina. Ken was a founding member of Hilltop Lutheran Church of the Ascension in South Bend and most recently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart. Visitation will be held from Noon-2:00pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at Trinity Lutheran School, located at the corner of Cleveland Rd. and Ash Rd. in Elkhart. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ken's memory to the Cindy Cataldo Scholarship Fund for Underprivileged Children at Trinity Lutheran School in Elkhart, IN. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
